Excellent Biomedical Research Opportunities

The newly established Center for Neurovirology and Cancer Biology in the College of Science and Technology, located on the Main Campus, announces exciting opportunities for Postdoctoral Fellows and Research Technicians in molecular biology and genetics of CNS disorders with an emphasis on cancer, AIDS, and demyelinating diseases. We have immediate, NIH grant-funded positions available in several laboratories participating in a multidisciplinary research program directed toward the study of the molecular basis of viral-induced diseases. Openings are available in the following laboratories:

Kamel Khalili, Ph.D., Director and Head, Laboratories of Molecular Neurovirology and Tumor Cell Biology: Gene expression and regulation in brain, molecular mechanisms involved in the formation and progression of brain tumors, signal transduction in the central nervous system, the design of molecular therapeutic strategies for cancer and AIDS therapy.

Jay Rappaport, Ph.D., Professor and Head, Laboratory of AIDS Pathogenesis and Molecular Therapeutics: HIV vaccine development targeting Tat protein and its role in viral replication and immune suppression. The role of HIV-1 Tat in viral-induced central nervous system disorders.

Shohreh Amini, Ph.D., Professor and Head, Laboratory of Viral and Cellular Molecular Biology: Molecular biology of HIV-1 in the central nervous system, role of HIV-1 regulatory proteins in control of CNS cell functions, animal model for studying the molecular pathogenesis of CNS dysfunction, the mechanism of demyelination in the central nervous system.

Requirements: Postdoctoral candidates should have a Ph.D. in molecular biology, biochemistry, microbiology, or immunology and a strong record of publication. Research technicians should have a B.S./B.A. degree with relevant research experience.

We invite all qualified candidates to submit a cover letter, curriculum vitae/resume, and names of three references to:
