The primary goal of the five-day Symposium will be to examine the molecular mechanisms associated with virus-induced neurologic disease in humans and animal models to enhance our understanding of common pathogenic themes, and to facilitate the diagnosis, prevention, and treatment of neurologic disease.

The ISNV Symposium was intentionally scheduled to immediately precede the annual meeting of the Society for Neuroscience, which begins on November 3rd in San Diego, in order to encourage maximum participation of international neuroscientists at both meetings.
